Drinks and nibbles in St Moritz, sadly not the Swiss Resort but as close as you’d come to it in an English country town. Located in Buxton and situated in the area known as Cavendish Circus, this adorable little restaurant transports you to a vintage alpine ski lodge.
The décor compliments the stunning architecture, with antique skis and toboggans adorning the walls, retro resort prints and traditional porcelain beer steins.
There’s a wonderful mezzanine under a glorious stained glass ceiling, you can’t help but feel you have entered a more luxurious and indulgent time.
Its situation close to the heart of the world famous Buxton Opera House is perfect for pre theatre suppers. The menu is varied enough to keep everyone happy and the chefs are happy to amend dishes to suit.
Having enjoyed a few refreshing glasses and devoured an unseemly amount of olives and feta, our only disappointment upon leaving was the lack of snow outside. We’ll have to return in the depths of winter for a total alpine experience.
