Taking on the Trust, Calke Abbey is a National Trust property preserved in a state of neglected decay. The dramatic decline of many country house estates after the world wars is reflected here. The property gets its name from a former Augustinian priory that was originally on the site in the 12th century, the current baroque mansion takes its name from the locations history. The Pavilion Gardens Conservatory. An exotic botanical delight. The Grade II listed Conservatory was designed by landscape gardener Edward Milner, the conservatory was first built in 1870, the Pavilion Gardens first opened in 1871.
